After completing YONDER, the authors wanted to follow up on certain threads of the story not present in the film. Their solution was to package the DVD with an art book that would include poetry, by Peter Hlinka, along with an eight page story by the writer Jason Baarts. When it came time to make images for the book, materials were turned over to graphic artist and illustrator Kaori Mitsushima, who continued the story of YONDER through creating a series of collages and text-based images from old photographs, antique postcards, and a woodblock print of Michalovice, the castle seen at the end of the film. At present, the authors of Yonder are seeking a publisher for this book, to be printed and bound in a limited edition. See sample images pages below. Yonder the book |
